Tides of Annihilation at Gamescom 2026: Story Trailer, Demo & Release Date
Published October 21, 2026 · Tides of Annihilation · 6 min read
Tides of Annihilation came to Gamescom 2026 with its biggest showing yet: a new story trailer, the first European public demo and a playable build that press could finally judge. It still did not come with a release date.

The "Beneath the Veil" story trailer
At Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026, Eclipse Glow premiered "Beneath the Veil," the game's first story trailer.
- It introduces Guinevere, a white-haired figure who teaches Gwendolyn to command the Fog.
- Lancelot makes his debut among the spectral Knights of the Round Table.
- The trailer shows aerial combat and the fractured modern London/Avalon setting.
- Wishlisting opened on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Epic Games Store the same week.
The 45-minute demo
From August 26–30, Eclipse Glow ran the first European public hands-on at Hall 6, Booth B-050. The demo included:
- A story mission through ruined London.
- Multi-phase boss fights against Mordred (labelled "medium" difficulty), Anubis in the Great Russell Museum, and Tyronoe.
- The Dual Frontline Battle System: Gwendolyn fights while commanding spectral knights, with two loadouts and main/support slots that can be swapped mid-combo.
- Niniane, a companion who can transform into a sword.
Press impressions were strong. DualShockers called it "an action-adventure for the ages"; Wccftech described a fast, DMC-like game rather than a Soulslike. The main open questions were performance and how the knight system scales over a full campaign.
The game won "Most Epic" at the Gamescom Awards 2026.
A new voice for Gwendolyn
Angela Sant'Albano (Resident Evil Requiem's Grace Ashcroft) is now the voice of Gwendolyn. She replaces Jennifer English (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33), who stepped down earlier in 2026 for personal health reasons but remains involved as an advisor.
Release date: still TBA
Director Ary Chen declined to give a release date at Gamescom, and also declined to confirm playtime or boss-count figures. He said development is ongoing and the team is gathering feedback.
- The February 2025 announcement gave a tentative 2026 window.
- Some storefronts show October 29, 2026 — a placeholder, not an official date.
- Media speculation now mostly points to 2027; IGN and Push Square both say "not before 2027."
- There is no official date, and no official delay announcement — the game has simply never had one.
- The 45-minute demo is event-only; the next stop is Beijing Fusion on October 24–25, 2026 (Booth A06).
Platforms and features
- PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store).
- Xbox Play Anywhere confirmed.
- No Switch 2 version currently planned, according to the director.
- Unreal Engine 5, with PC path tracing and DLSS 4 support.
- 11 languages, including Brazilian Portuguese; Chinese voice-over and text are available.
- Self-published by Eclipse Glow Games, a Chengdu studio of roughly 115–150 people; Tencent is the majority investor.
What to watch next
- An official release-date announcement.
- Whether the 2026 window survives into next year.
- More detail on the 30+ bosses and 30+ hour campaign figures reported by Chinese media.
- Whether the game appears at The Game Awards 2026 or a future State of Play.
